Connected Speech

Friends Talking Outside

Why does spoken English sound so different?

You know the words — so why can't you always hear them?

In natural English, words connect, sounds become weaker and some sounds seem to disappear. This can make familiar language surprisingly difficult to recognise.

You'll learn to notice linking, weak forms, reductions, stress and rhythm so that fast, natural English becomes easier to understand.
